Though they had the PBIS system and the district-wide expectations in place, Cicero School District No. 99 (District 99) continued to struggle with attendance and behavior accountability.
According to District 99’s director of MTSS, Dr. Jack Rein, the challenge was that “every school was doing their own behavior tracking, whether it was positive or negative. It was different at every school.”
To make real change happen, District 99 needed a consistent, collaborative approach that would yield rich, informative district-level data in order.
The district decided to implement SchoolMint Hero, a student behavior management and tardy tracking platform.
With Hero in place, the district could then:
Decrease in general absenteeism: 23%
Decrease in chronic absenteeism: 67%
Reduction in monthly behavior referrals: 34%
Reduction in avg. number monthly suspension days: 34%
