It’s hard for me to believe I’ve been at SchoolMint for over a year. I came here in March 2021 in pursuit of a new industry — as well as opportunities to expand my skills, to grow in my career, and to be part of a company that’s affecting real, positive change in one of our nation’s most pivotal places: K-12 classrooms.
I’ve found all that (and much more) at SchoolMint. Watch this video to learn what we are all about, or keep reading for 10 reasons it is great to be a Mintee!
When people ask me about what it’s like to work at SchoolMint, I tell them, “It’s California vibes but in Louisiana.”
I love my state. But we’re far more known for agriculture and oil rather than innovative startups and technology titans. And we have a real problem of college graduates leaving Louisiana and taking their potential with them.
That alone is one of the reasons I’m so excited that SchoolMint moved to my home state in 2020. Aspiring professionals like myself can stay here and enjoy a fulfilling career close to our families, friends, and culture.
Of course, people typically also want to know what SchoolMint does, about SchoolMint’s company culture, the perks, the benefits, and what I do (which, I’ve come to realize, “content marketing manager” so often sounds like absolute jargon).
With SchoolMint being a rapidly growing edtech company and having many open roles right now, I realized it was time to spread the word about what makes me excited to come here each day. Based on my own answers as well as some observations from my teammates, I put together this list.
(And psst, you can check out all of our open roles here!)
How do you prefer to work: in the office, 100% remotely, or a little bit of both? SchoolMint supports your preference!
With a workforce that stretches across the United States and Costa Rica, it’s a little bit impossible to expect all Mintees to come into our Lafayette and New Orleans offices in Louisiana.
But we recognize that the perfect candidate for a role may be a remote worker, and as such, SchoolMint welcomes all applicants.
As someone who relocated from Wisconsin to Louisiana, being able to work remotely was invaluable. It was a very stressful time for my husband and I, and working remotely removed one additional barrier.
Now that I’m in Louisiana, I love getting to work in the office but also work from home when I want. It helps so much with my work-life balance!

As a former educator with 27 years in the classroom, I was drawn to SchoolMint because I see so much value in the products we offer. Education has always been important to me, and I knew since first grade that I wanted to be a teacher. I strongly feel that by getting our products in the hands of school leaders and teachers, we can positively impact some of the negative trends we are currently seeing in classrooms.
Post-covid has unfortunately brought about chronic behavior problems, increased student tardiness and absenteeism, and teacher attrition. By being a part of SchoolMint, I want to be a part of helping our schools overcome these challenges.

At SchoolMint, we have five deeply held cultural values:
We want employees to come as they are to work every day — as their true, authentic selves.
I love how inclusive the company culture is. Employees bring their ‘whole self’ to work.
From all levels in the company, my co-workers are willing to pitch in, without hesitation, to help a fellow employee solve problems, brainstorm, and share their true personalities in a positive way that promotes kinship and camaraderie.
It is refreshing to work with a team who focus on common goals, not conflicts!
— Dawn Carriker, Customer Success Manager
At SchoolMint, we have a diverse, inclusive culture and work environment.
We embrace people of all backgrounds — regardless of race, ethnicity, color, ancestry, religion, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, or veteran status — across all levels of the organization.
Everyone has a battery. And like a battery, our personal batteries need to be recharged regularly.
Because of this, SchoolMint provides regular wellness days for employees. Each month, we all get at least two four-day work weeks — that means we get off every other Friday.
In fact, our first one is tomorrow!
I plan on spending the day off to work on my garden, squeeze in some creative writing, finish reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, and enjoy time with my wonderful fiancé.
At the end of the year, SchoolMint employees get the final week of December off as a winter recess.
Many of us used the winter recess of 2021 to visit family across the country, go on vacation, recharge at home, and welcome in the new year.
After being with the company for one year, SchoolMint employees can register for GoCoach.
This platform offers personalized online coaching, and Mintees who take advantage of GoCoach get to work one-on-one with a professional coach of their choosing. And it’s been a huge success here!
In addition to GoCoach, SchoolMint employees get to enjoy ongoing opportunities for professional development. The training varies by department but is always relevant to your role.
I joined the SchoolMint team at the end of March, and I’ve already become HubSpot-certified in HubSpot marketing software. Now I’m working on additional certifications through Google.
— Ashley Labat, Marketing Manager
To keep a healthy work-life balance for Mintees, SchoolMint offers a variety of days off for employees, ranging from sick pay to paid time off and many, many holidays.
In addition to a floating holiday, birthday floating holiday, and an employee-decided volunteer day, SchoolMint employees also get the following days off:
Each Wednesday, SchoolMint employees in the Lafayette and New Orleans offices get to enjoy Welcome Back Wednesday.
This weekly celebration is a time for our local Mintees to come into the office, eat a catered lunch together, and socialize with each other.
All of the above is just a sampling of what SchoolMint has to offer. Employees also get:
